“Customs General Department is working on renforcing surveillance on bomb smugglers and is carrying out negotations with French companies to buy modern machines,” said “Tout sur l’Algérie” website on Saturday.

 

An official at the department said the staff was ordered to be more vigilant and tighten up technical control especially of migrants and foreigners’ containers coming to Algeria.

 “The port has been provided with a sufficient number of customs agents who have experience and been trained in the fight against arms dealing,” said the same source.   Customs services have foiled attempts of smuggling weapons and ammunition including 33 kg of bomb powder since 2007.Different security forces possess bomb detectors of high quality, said a security source.
