Algerian defense ministry opens industrial and commercial institutions

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika aims at finding public institutions with industrial and commercial character enjoying moral personality and financial independence.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has promulgated a presidential decree to determine the status of public institutions belonging to the Popular National Army's economic sector.

The president aims at finding public institutions with industrial and commercial character enjoying moral personality and financial independence.These institutions are in charge of forming an industry for defense and reinforcing its capacities as well as ensuring the transfer of defense technology and having control over it.According to the presidential decree, the institutions mission will consist in encouraging the development of military industry competences and reinforcing its integration in national industry.

The institutions are allowed to conclude any agreement on the basis of an authorization from national defense minister to establish partnership that includes all its activities fields to meet the Popular National Army’s needs.

 Investment and exploitation expenses of the institutions will be supplied from their own resources coming from their products and services sale.The institutions will be under different forms of control from the defense ministry.
