Algerian delegate ministers warns Beriane troublemakers
Algerian delegate minister to the interior affairs Dahou Oueld Kabliya decided on to visit the city of Beriane (600 km south of Algiers) once a week after it had witnessed clashes between residents on Friday.

According to local sources, the minister talked to Ibadite notables from the Mozabite community and the Malekite (Arab speaking) on the conflict opposing the two communities.

Two people were killed and hundreds were wounded in the clashes along with several damaged buildings.

“The Beriane events are no more than a socio-political issue. The State will severely punish everyone involved in terrifying people,” said the same sources citing the minister.

Calm has been restored in Beriane’s streets as the angry people who blocked the main roads withdrew.

The meeting came up with a decision to set up a national commission in charge of creating field cells throughout Beriane’s areas.

Notables also decided to form a delegation to head for the president’s office in order to convey a file with reports and letters to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
