Algerian donated blood for Gaza blocked at El Arish
Only a small quantity of blood donated by hundreds of people in Algeria arrived to the Gaza Strip while the rest of the blood remains stored in Egyptian city of El Arish, according to professional ethics council chief.

“Algerians’ donated blood for wounded Palestinians in Gaza stays at El Arish until it gets unusable,” Berkani Mohamed Bekat said at Echorouk forum Sunday.
-
“The same thing happened during the American invasion of Iraq,” he added.
-
Bekat believes blood donation is not only a humanitarian issue. “It must have a political aspect,” he said.
-
Egypt has refused to open its border with Gaza, the Rafah crossing, amidst the growing humanitarian crisis in the Strip and the increasing number of wounded.
-
“Algerian high authorities must put pressure on Egyptian authorities to allow Algerian aid enter Gaza,” Bekat stressed.
-
He added that the whereabouts of Algerian doctors who were sent to Gaza to help Israeli attacks victims are still unknown.
-
“Sending doctors alone to Gaza is not enough.”
-
He stressed the necessity of bringing surgery medicines and antibiotics in an immediate way.
