Algerian Education Minister warns of fake exam papers

Algerian Education Minister Abu Bakr Ben Bouzid said 20 competent education inspectors were appointed to check the baccalaureate exam questions to avoid any pedagogical errors or others this year.According to Ben Bouzid, the education ministry took all control and security measures in coordination with the National Bureau of Exams, the National Popular Army, the National Gendarmerie and security forces to prevent exam leak.

In that regard, the minister warned the baccalaureate candidates of falling in fake questions as it happened last year.

He added that the education ministry will organise a meeting in the next few days between inspectors, teachers and pupils’ parents to discuss a new law on education he had started preparing.

The minister ordered education directors to maintain high schools open for the candidates after courses stop on May 15 so that they can revise together and meet teachers. “The end of the reference programme of the baccalaureate on May 15 does not mean that studies are finished neither does it mean closing the high schools’ doors.

He ordered the education directors to ask teachers to stay in their positions and go to the high schools everyday to receive pupils for revision.

He stressed the necessity of special support for pupils. “I do not want and I do not accept that any pupil leaves the exam saying the questions were on non-studied topics.”

Ben Bouzid also warned the education directors of delay in school programs implementations in any subject.

He believes that unions played a positive role in the advancement of programmes as there were fewer protests during the current school year compared to the last year.
