Algerian energy minister urge the sector’s managers to apply stringent measures to protect the companies’ interests
The Algerian Energy Minister Youcef Youcefi has yesterday called on strengthening control over the expenditures engaged by the Algerian energy company “ Sonelgaz†as part of the agreements sealed to carry out its different projects, urging for a meticulous study of the specifications in order to fend off malpractices.
- The minister has indicated that the world is constantly developing “ We have to adapt our
- specifications to the world’s standards so as to protect Sonelgaz from all forms of malpractices”, he said.
- He has indicated that professional ethics require also meticulous study of expenditures’ costs and follow objective criteria in selecting funders as well as giving opportunities to national competencies especially those trained at the company.
- The minister has expressed his dissatisfaction to the delay registered in the modernization of gas and electricity networks during the 1990 vowing to catch up this delay thanks to the efforts deployed in order to avoid power cuts and assure better services to the clients.
- He seized this opportunity to announce a giant program to develop renewable energies to be presented to the cabinet for discussions in the upcoming few weeks, noting that Sonelgaz will be the pillar of this program that will reflect the ministry’s new strategy to save the underground resources.
- The ministry is taking the challenge the same quantity of renewable energy as the one existing today within 20 years time in addition to carrying on the exploration to discover new oil resources over 50 years.
