Algerian Environment Minister orders tto close 4 cement and asbestos facilities

Algerian Environment Minister Cherif Rahmani ordered the closing of 4 cement and asbestos facilities in Algiers, Mascara ( west of Algiers) , Bourdj Bou Areridj (east of Algiers) and Blida (70 km west of Algiers) for environmental and health purposes.

• On the sidelines of the minister’s visit to Meftah , Blida, the governor declared that the factory is due to be transferred to an industrial zone within few months.
• The general manager of the cement group, Bachir Yahia revealed that some 500 tons of asbestos are stocked in the Meftah production unit due to be buried within days.
