Algerian Environment Minister Cherif Rahmani ordered the closing of 4 cement and asbestos facilities in Algiers, Mascara ( west of Algiers) , Bourdj Bou Areridj (east of Algiers) and Blida (70 km west of Algiers) for environmental and health purposes.

On the sidelines of the minister’s visit to Meftah , Blida, the governor declared that the factory is due to be transferred to an industrial zone within few months.

The general manager of the cement group, Bachir Yahia revealed that some 500 tons of asbestos are stocked in the Meftah production unit due to be buried within days.
