Algerian expert in combating terrorism accused of spying
Algerian expert in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, working as a psychologist in Temouchent locality, west of Algeria, was followed Sunday by the court of Algiers on charges of working as a spy for a foreign country. He said he is not guilty and denied statements attributed to him in the records of the judicial police, which stated that he travelled to Iraq with 35 psychologists from different nationalities, who are active in the International Associations of Psychologists in Austria.

The 35 psychologists went to Iraq in order to help Iraqi children, and because the Algerian psychologist is an expert in fighting terrorism, he carried out a research about the phenomenon and tried to change terrorists’ believes there, particularly those who were recruited as suicide bombers.

His research led him to El Maousil region where he met –according to the statement- with terrorists who trained in a suicide bombers’ camp, in order to prepare themselves for suicide operations outside Iraq, including North African countries. He also went to El Wakia in Al Basra province and discovered a vault containing a number of foreign detainees including five Russians, three Egyptians and a European. The Russian gave him their personal documents begging him to transfer their sufferance to their countries’ governments, particularly since they were diplomats.

According to the records, the Algerian psychologist went to the Russian embassy when he returned back Algeria. He told the Russian ambassador about dangerous information that’s why he promised him a special reward, because information was true and told him that the former Russian president would give him the reward.

However, the Russian embassy neglected him, but the Qatari one called him and asked about information.

The Algerian psychologist denied all the facts before the investigative judge, confirming that the Russian authorities called him and received him but to ask him about presenting a lecture in Leningrad and Moscow about combating terrorism.
