Algerian Flight Company to open new international lines

The Algerian airlines company has disclosed its medium term plan scheduled for the period between 2012and 2017 that centers around six major axis which comprises the opening of new airways toward major western and international capitals and the adhesion to one of the airlines coalition groups.

  • The company has announced on its website a plan to open new lines toward Brazil, South Africa, China, Netherlands and the United Sates, noting that three flights per week are scheduled toward Lagos, Nigeria, so is the case with Shanghai, while two flights will link Algiers to Johannesburg and Sao Paolo.
  • Air Algerie announced that three flights will link Algiers to Amsterdam and five to New York per week.
  • The Algerian company, that stopped investing since 20 years, is facing fierce competition at the domestic level from foreign flight companies like the French Air France and Qatar Air ways pending the arrival of Fly Emirates next March.
  • The company’s chairman Mohamed Salah Boultif has indicated that this new vision aims at transforming Algiers international airport to a hub in the region following the example of Doha and Dubai airports.
