Algerian football association to discuss competitions new system

Discussions will mainly focus o the system of the competition following complaints and a large wave of criticism expressed by most of the clubs from both the first and the second league.

The federal bureau of the Algerian football association led by the president Abdelhamid Hadadj is et to meet this morning to discuss the eventuality of changing the system of the competition.

Discussions will mainly focus o the system of the competition following complaints and a large wave of criticism expressed by most of the clubs from both the first and the second league, as well as the weak performances of the referees over the season, adding to that the phenomenon of violence that reached its zenith this year.

So far, rumors talk about a championship with 20 clubs, while others mentioned 24 clubs divided into two distinct pools whereas some talk about a league of 28 clubs to satisfy all.

Amazingly enough, most of the bureau’s members declared that they were not aware about these changes in the system, and were waiting their president’s suggestions during this meeting. One of the most influential members added that he will staunchly oppose any attempt to the system because it goes against the regulations in force.

But all it seems that the president will try to convince his collaborators to adopt these changes, which have been imposed by the ministry, and starts the setting up of committees to work on the project , likely to be presented to the general assembly next July.
