Algerian football Federation in a rat-race to join new players pending future competitions

Three new players will join the national football squad during the next friendly match against Gabon slated for August 11, at the 5th July Olympic stadium here in Algiers namely; the Belgium club “Charleroi” right winger Mohammed Chakouri, Walid Chorfa and Kaiserslautern midfielder Laameri Chadli, sources close to the Algerian football federation have revealed.

  • The defender Walid Chorfa has paid cash his denial to renew his contract with his Spanish club “Taragonna” and was put on the bench in a move to pressure him to sign for another season. For his part, Mohammed Chakouri suffered an injury that prevented him to play the last matches of the Belgium league.

  • But the case of Laameri Chadli has spurred controversy among the experts in Algeria who didn’t understand the head coach’s decision not to call him up to take part to the world cup tournament despite his good form and regular participation with his German club Mainz.

  • The chairman of the Algerian Football federation, Mhammed Raouraoua will move to Spain with the view to convincing Valencia’s players to join the Algerian national team. The president will confer with the player on spot in order to clarify his position, after delaying his decision during their first meeting in the beginning of the year.

  • At that time Feghouli has declined to pronounce arguing that he was not fit on account of an injury and lack of competition, preferring to wait until the end of the world cup competition.

  • The Algerian coach Rabah Saadane has informed the federation that he was making of the case of Feghouli, known as “Zizou” in France, his top priority and is looking forward for his joining before the African Cup of Nations’ qualifiers to lead the Algerian attack.

  • The 20 year old Grenoble player needs a special permit from the International Football Federation ( FIFA) to play for Algeria because he has in the past played for the French U20
