Algerian football squad ready for the Senegalese mission

Pending the World and African cup of nations competitions due to take place in 2010 in South African and Angola respectively, the Algerian football squad is today facing the Senegalese “lions of Tarenga” at Leopold Sedar Sanguor stadium in Dakar as part of the first round of the preliminary heats.

  • For the purpose, the national coach and his staff decided to organize a week -long training camp in the Parisian region to put all the chances on their side and return home with, at least a draw, which will weight on the balance in the final countdown.
  • The “Fenecs” very confident:
  • The Algerian players showed great determination even if they acknowledged the difficulty of the mission referring to the reputation of the opponent and the general atmosphere surrounding the match the D day, but felt more than confident as to final outcome of the match.
  • The pressure is rather on Camara’s mates:
  • Surprisingly enough, the pressure is expected to be on the Senegalese side as millions of fans are still have in mind the poor performance of their squad during the last African cup in Ghana. Thousands of fans will flock to the stadium expecting a victory to wash away the bad memory and get the Senegalese squad back on the track.
  • Saadane is counting on players inner potentialities:
  • The Algerian coach is relying on the potential of a cluster of “stars” including Saifi, Ziani, Manouri, Antar Yahia, Belhadj and the goalkeeper Guaouaoui to surprise the opposite side at home and offset the lack of homogeneity within the team. To recall these players garnered a big experience during their several participations on the African pitches.
  • Saadane chose to play onward
  • The Algerian squad will play with four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers including Lorient star Rafik Saifi who scored 14 goals in the French league this session and Rafik djebbour who struck 13 times in the Greek league. To put his strategy in practice, M Saadane has thoroughly analysed the Senegalese style and called on the Algerian embassy in Dakar to provide him with additional information, knowing that the Senegalese line up underwent deep changes, in comparison with Ghana.
  • The best team in five years:
  • Football experts agreed to say that the Algerian squad is the best one since five years, as the short listed players posses both experience and skill to make of them the favourite ones on the African scene dumping; thus the black image painted by the French coach Michel Cavali in a recent past.
  • The Senegalese media openly expressed concern about the Algerian squad considering it as a very good one and able to defeat any African team, putting the focus on three players in particular namely: Ziani, Saifi and Belhadj.
  • The match beamed on the Algerian TV:
  • Millions of Algerians will follow the match live on the Algerian TV following the agreement reached by the Algerian TV and the right holder in Senegal. The TV reporter on spot, Messaoud Dchicha has been given  a commentary position in the stadium.
