Algerian forces eliminate a terrorist and foil a meeting by Al Arqam battalion leaders east of Algiers

Algerian forces foiled last weekend a secret meeting by Al Arqam battalion’s leaders in the region of El Mrael in Tijelabine, 2 km south of Boumerdes, east of Algiers.

• According to Echorouk informed sources, the process occurred after receiving information about a secret meeting of Al Arqam leaders, the largest battalion of the central region, which includes Boumerdes, Algiers, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira.

• Algerian security services moved to the place where the meeting, an abandoned house since 2003 and cordoned off the entire area, and initiated a maneuver to oust the terrorists who were waiting for their leaders, except for two guards who came before the meeting in order to provide security of the house and the place surrounding it.

• Armed forces entered in a clash with the two terrorists who felt their presence, and eliminated one of them “K.Ibrahim” 32, from an area near the site and retrieved his Kalashnikov, while the other terrorist escaped to unknown destination.

• Echorouk sources suggest that the meeting, scheduled to be held in the region, aimed at trying to reorganize the battalion that noticed a significant division since the elimination of its spiritual leader “Qory Abdelmalek”, alias “Khaled Abu Suleiman” 32.

• Successive attempts to hold meetings by remnant leaders of terrorist groups in the region were necessary to gather the few terrorists who are fighting for leadership, at a time they suffer because of losing active terrorists and back up cells, as well as tight siege by the security services.
