Algerian Foreign Ministry refutes occurrence of deaths among Algerian fans in Cairo
Algerian Foreign Ministry refuted categorically the existence of dead people among the Algerians fans, who supported the Algerian team or those living in Cairo, and considered the news in the Algerian streets or the testimonies by the fans returning from Cairo just “rumors†and “false informationâ€, while we noticed total absence of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry which must confirm the safety of the Algerian supporters.

Services of the Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelsi said in a formal statement, available to Echorouk; “The Foreign Ministry refuted the existence of deaths, following investigation by The Algerian embassy in Cairo, at the level of local authorities and hospitals in Egypt. Thus, the Foreign Ministry refuted categorically these allegations. There are no deaths among the Algerians in Cairo following the events which occurred among the fans who moved to Egypt and those living in there”.

The Foreign Ministry acknowledged, based on information by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, that there are 20 injuries with various degrees, following the heinous attacks by fanatic people whether before or after the match, on last Saturday, among the Algerian fans; “ All the injuries left the Egyptian hospitals following necessary treatment”.

Trying to reassure the public opinion and facilitate a return to calm, the Algerian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the list of injuries is available at its services, as it establishes a follow-up cell since November 11 with a contact number 40/30, for inquiry about any person failing to return to Algeria or missing in Cairo.

Algerian Foreign Ministry said that 300 fans moved directly to Khartoum on board of Air Algerie and ANP military aircrafts, as the Egyptian authorities refused to announce any formal statement to confirm the absence of deaths among the Algerian fans, despite the events occurred in the Egyptian soil.
