Algerian former prime minister to represent President Bouteflika at UN Security Council meeting

The President of the Republic Abdellaziz Bouteflika has designated Ahmed Ouyahia as his special representative for a meeting bringing together UN security council members and representatives of regional bodies including the African Union devoted to the promotion and consolidation of peace at the regional and international level.

Ahmed Ouyahia will be leading a high-level Algerian delegation at the joint meeting to be held on Wednesday in New York .

The RND Secretary General, who quit his post of prime minister in May 2006 after internecine manoeuvrings, was also designated as President Bouteflika’s representative at the India-Africa summit held last week in the Indian capital New Delhi .
