Algerian gendarmerie arrest goods smugglers east of Algeria

Units of the Algerian Gendarmerie active in Tebessa, east of Algeria arrested drug traffickers during the last 48 hours, and seized thousands of litters of fuel and dozens of tons of cargo and vehicles.

 

• National gendarmes installed 48 checkpoints in the various roads that traffickers used as major crossing to smuggle various products towards the borders that extend along 300 km divided into 10 localities from Ouanza north to Nakrine south.

• Echorouk sources said the seized products exceeded two million dinars, as the fuel is on top with the quantity of 20.000 litters, then tomato 15 tons, and Mallow, chewing gum, coffee, copper, livestock, perfumes, shampooing and ships.

• Security raids included the seizure of cars, motorcycles, with a value that exceeded 600.000 dinars and eight cars and trucks.

• All the seizure was transferred to the customs headquarter, as tens of persons were involved and ten arrested, whose ages range between 23 and 40 years, then brought before judicial authorities, where they have been placed in provisional detention.

• Previously, units of the national gendarmerie arrested tens of smugglers and seized nearly 17 million dinars of smuggled good in the same locality.
