Algerian Gendarmerie to use 20.000 gendarmes along 110.000 Km

Head of the Algerian gendarmerie adopted new strategy in order to develop road security units and combat criminality.  

• Statistics by the road security department revealed that 8816 foreign tourists were escorted during 2008 compared to 1900 in 2007. Same authorities escorted 755 operations of transferring explosives in 2008 and 682 in 2007. They escorted 882 Money transfer operations in 2008 and 704 in 2007.
•  It is clear that the Algerian gendarmerie has intensified its activities during last year, particularly when it comes to escorting foreign tourists and important visitors, as well as transferring explosives and money.
