Algerian government chooses the week end to apply the new prices of sugar and oil

Sugar prices tumbled down on Thursday from 130 dinars during the past five days to 85 dinars for one kilogram; however, oil prices are still far from those prices approved by government, as the price 5 liters reach 650 dinars, and one liter reaches 125 dinars.

Algerian citizens started buying oil and sugar from a number of shops, especially sugar which price ranged between 85 dinars and 95 dinars per kilo.

 

The beginning from Kouba markets in Algiers, where these two products noticed a “significant drop” tumbling down to the price levels proposed government, i.e 90 dinars per one kilo of sugar. However, some shops sell it with the price of 85 dinars, but the price of five liters of oil reaches 600 dinars.

 

A number of Algerian citizens expressed satisfaction following the low prices of sugar and oil but they asked government to let Cevital Oil Company break the prices of these two products for more cut of prices.

Retailers in Algiers agreed on selling a medium-sized bottle of oil with a capacity of five liters at 650 dinars, compared to 780 dinars since the beginning of the year, while the price of a 2 liters bottle of oil is reduced to 250 dinars, compared to 330 dinars since the beginning of January, fixing the price of one liter of oil at 180 dinars.
