Algerian government gives wide prerogatives to energy Minister for exploitation of oil and mining fields

The Council of Government adopted Thursday a draft executive decree amending and complementing the decree of 5 May 2007 relating to the marking out and classification of mining property and zones and pinpointing the areas destined to exploration, research and exploitation.

• This was announced by Communication Minister Abderrachid Boukerzaza during a press briefing in the wake of the meeting of the Council of Government.
• The minister pointed out that the draft decree is meant to conferring more flexibility in the marking out of the perimeters devoted to mining exploration, research and exploitation according to the development of the mining activity.
• The government council also examined other topical issues notably one related to the duties and rights of bailiffs with respect to the laws and regulations in force in the country.
