Algerian Immigrants to suffer from high ticket prices

French General Directorate of Civil Aviation, held a meeting with its Algerian counterpart t “Air Algerie”, after failure of the Algerian side to attend the meeting, which was scheduled early last month, under the pretext of attending the funeral of the former President Chadli Ben Jedid, without providing convincing justifications, which prompted the French Civil Aviation to adopt the same scheme of last year’s flights.

Sources linked to the file told Echorouk, that the Algerian delegation was delayed from attending the meeting, which was scheduled on Oct. 8 at the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation in the 15 district in Paris, without providing any justification for the French part, and said only that it attended the funeral of the late President Chadli Ben Jedid, stressing that the reaction of the French party was deciding not to hold any meeting with the Algerian side, and keeping the same scheme of flights between Algeria and France for next year, and set aside the same programs for the summer period.

Same sources quoted Maxim Milivar, an official for the branch of the Directorate of the French Civil Aviation, as saying that the French party is not ready to hold a meeting with the Algerian Directorate of Civil Aviation and the officials of Air Algerie, after their delay and unjustified postponment of last October’s meeting, stressing that the French authorities will maintain last year’s scheme with the same number of scheduled flights between the two countries.

Associations of the Algerian community in France, including the movement of Algerian nationals in France and the National Council of the Algerian immigration in France as well, condemned the act of the Algerian civil aviation’s officials and Air Algerie, on the grounds that the Algerian passengers will pay the price of this act through the high prices of tickets and the lack of tickets at the peak period, especially the summer vacation, which will coincide with the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
Omar Ait Mokhtar, coordinator of the movement of Algerian nationals in France told Echorouk that this act would be at the expense of the pockets of hundreds of thousands of Algerian immigrants, especially in France, meaning the continued fraud and extortion of Air Algerie during the peak period of next year, and continued trade agreement between Air Algerie and Aigle Azure, to impose prices that are higher than the prices of all the other international destinations.
As a result, various Associations of the Algerian community in France called for launching a campaign to boycott Air Algerie, as of November 1st, to force it to change its policy, otherwise they will paralize Air Algerie flights in the French Airports.
