Algerian journalist: An Egyptian policewoman obliged me to take off my clothes

The Algerian journalist Noura Djamila has related to “Echourok” the details of the shameful treatment reserved by the Egyptian authorities to the Algerians in Cairo, which didn’t spare even the officials, the media professionals and the artists.

•  She asserted that the Egyptian security services were absent in Cairo and this encouraged overzealous Egyptian fans to attack and insult us. The guide transferred us by bus to the stadium but on our arrival we found ourselves on our own without any protection, she said.
• Noura Djamila went on saying “While I was preparing myself to get into the stadium, a high ranked policewoman officer launched at me “ Take off your clothes”. I was so shocked that I asked her to be clearer. When she asked me the same thing for the second time I understood that she wanted to humiliate me but I refused saying “ I’m accredited and I’m here to cover my country’s match and not to take off my clothes”
• I added” In my country we do not take off clothes at check points, at this time she replied “get out to the street”… I refused to do so and insisted to get into the stadium, after strong arguments her superior intervened and let me in”.
•  The journalist slammed her Egyptian counterparts who were present to cover the match since they refused to stand up at the hearing of the Algerian anthem and kept sitting on their benches and joking. This is a humiliation for Algeria and I’m disappointed to see that it came from journalists who were supposed to be a model fair- play, but what happened was just the opposite.
