Lawyer Miloud Ibrahimi and human rights leader Farouk ksentini Tuesday called Algerian lawyer’s union to show solidarity for the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at US President George W Bush.

Muntadar al-Zaidi did not do anything wrong than expressing his position as a simple Iraqi citizen,” said the lawyers in a press conference in Algiers.

They stressed the necessity of supporting an initiative launched by 200 Arab lawyers to free the journalist.

According to them, al-Zaidi’s behaviour reflects his anger as he had previously been abducted by rebels and held twice for questioning by US forces in Iraq.
