Algerian MP's open debate on reported “marriages of convenience” between foreigners and Algerian women

The Interior Minister is slated to reply Wednesday to the Algerian MP's questions and queries on the exact conditions for the issuing of a residence permit in Algeria for foreign nationals notably those hailing from China .

Several parliamentarians belonging to the MSP party have called on the Interior Minister to react officially to persisting reports speaking of numerous marriages of convenience concluded between Chinese nationals and several Algerian women in various parts of the country.

In the words of a MSP parliamentarian,   the sole aim behind these fake marriages is, for these Chinese men, to secure the Algerian Nationality and a permanent residence permit in Algeria .

He underlined in this connection that the relevant authorities should seriously look into the question by conducting a thorough investigation before the official delivery of any marriage certificate.
