Algerian operators blast authorities over the French “Total”

Algerian operators specialized in the distribution and production of motor oils have revealed that the trade, finance and energy ministries have “exceptionally” exonerated the French company “TOTAL” from paying taxes related to the import of motor oils from the United Arabs Emirates, Magreb and the European Union countries.

• Meanwhile, the Algerian companies have to pay taxes estimated at 30% for oil imported from the Arab countries and 21% for those brought from the European Union ones.
• A top manager from the trade ministry has revealed to Echourouk that the imported motor oils are included in the grey list set up by ministry in order to promote and protect the national product, denying the allegations that the authorities favour the French company at the expense of the Algerian operators.
• The same operators raised questions over the party that favors the French company “Total” against the national company “ Naftal” that lost more than 20% of the market shares to the French one in less than three years.
