Algerian Parliament endorses amended electoral law
National Popular Assembly.
The bureau of the National Popular Assembly has endorsed the proposed electoral law n° 97-07 modified and introduced on March 6th 1997 related to the provisions governing the new electoral law in expectation of forthcoming election contests in Algeria.

The Parliamentarians have, meanwhile, worked out a timetable from Sunday to next Thursday to examine and adopt a number of draft laws related to several pending files linked notably to investments and state-owned lands.
-
-
The adopted electoral law will be conveyed shortly to the government for a final endorsement.

-
The MP’s of the National Popular Assembly will also have on their agenda the examining later this month of the draft finance law for 2009.

It will be yet another opportunity for the deputies to raise again the controversial question of their monthly salaries by stressing that the recent salary likes decided in favour of the MP’s were “legitimate”, contrary to the assertions of a lot of citizens who argue that the latter’s salaries are already “astronomical”.
