A Patrol of Algerian security forces Thursday escaped a terrorist ambush in Souk Elhad in the province of Boumerdes (50 km east of Algeria).

  • Police officers say a bomb went off on their way to Bni Amrane town immediately after the patrol had passed by. There were no reports of casualties.
  • The bomb which was remotely controlled did not hit its target, they said.
  • Boumerdes is considered as the main stronghold of the so-called the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) which claimed responsibility for a series of terror attacks in Algeria.
