Algerian players pledge to make good showing for the Palestinian people in South Africa
Their concentration on the upcoming World cup tournament all along the training camp in Crans- Montana, Switzerland,, didn’t prevent the Algerian players to have a though for Palestinian people either through their different press declarations or in their conversations between each other.

AEK Athens striker, Rafik Djebbour expressed his utter disappointment for missing a ceremony in support of the Palestinian people organized by the Palestinian community based in Greece. He was asked top be the patron this event but couldn’t fulfil their wish on account of his commitment with the Algerian national squad.

Answering to Echourok’s question concerning his stand about the Palestinian cause, the player replied” Palestinian will always be in our heart, we will not forget it and we are looking forward for its’ liberation; I have expressed my commitment to it and was ready to attend the ceremony organized in Greece, unfortunately it coincided with the training camp of the Algerian national squad”.

The player has overtly expressed his support to the Palestinian cause when he wore the Palestinian veil in one of the matches and ran around the pitch; he has always dedicated his gaols to the Palestinian people especially the inhabitants of Gaza.

For his part, the veteran of the Algerian national team , Rafik Saifi has expressed his unflagging support for the Palestinian people” They have celebrated our qualification to the World cup, we rare the sole Arab and Muslim representative in this competition and a big responsibility lies on our shoulders, this is why we have to live up to this responsibility”.

In a declaration to Echourok, Rafik Saifi has indicated” I think that our families in Gaza are expecting a lot from us during the world cup, and we will not disappoint them”.

Matmour: “ He refused to travel with his club to Israel”

The international striker Karim Matmour has refused to travel to Israel with his German club Borussia Munchengladbach as a gesture of solidarity to the Palestinian people, he has defied his club and didn’t yield to pressures.
