Algerian PM orders reinforcement of security apparatus in several municipalities of Algiers and Boumerdes

In consistence with a set of firm guidelines issued by the Algerian head of government Ahmed Ouyahia, the committee in charge of security in Algiers and Boumerdes has decided to implement extra security measures in several municipalities of the 2 provinces in order to face up to any contingency. 

• The latest measures are mainly aimed at staving off new terrorist bombings in these key municipalities of Algiers which shelter many official buildings and foreign diplomatic representations in addition to major foreign businesses.
• The extra security measures are to be enforced in several districts of the capital including El Mouradia, Bir Mourad Rais, Hydra, Sidi M’hamed, Hussein Dey and Cheraga as part of an overall anti-terrorist security plan.
• Police patrols and check-points will be beefed up in these municipalities during and after the holy month of fasting of Ramadhan, according to reliable sources close to the security committee.
