Algerian police officers to follow military training to enhance their skills
The first group police officers has joined the notorious military academy of Cherchel, western Algiers, to follow a specific military training likely to upgrade their skills in their fight against theft, crime and terrorism following the same methods as the gendarmerie and military officers.

- Reliable sources have revealed to Echouorok that the initiative that has been ordered by the Algerian police chief, General Abdelghani Hamel, is designed to enhance the abilities of the police officers through the use of military methods.
- The future officers will be trained to use and master different weapons and military equipment that will enable them to carry on their duties with a higher efficiency and even give assistance to the military troops in the combing operations as part of the anti- terrorism fight.
- Our sources have also revealed that the police officers, which are currently in the academy, will undergo a specific training including gang chase. This training is designed to improve the officers’ skills and enable them to be the match of the gendarmerie officers.
- This training that stopped since 20 years, has been revived by the General Abdelghani Hamel in a move to overhaul cooperation between the different security bodies with the aim to fight against all forms of criminality.
