Algerian President Bouteflika called on World Bank experts to make economic diagnosis
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Algerian economist Abderehamane Mebtoul Sunday revealed that the president based his criticism concerning the way the foreign investments and privatization are managed, on a thorough analysis carried out by the World Bank experts in charge of Middle East and North Africa.

M. Bouteflika, who personally ordered such an expertise, noticed that the report presented by the World Bank experts contradicted the one raised to him regarding the results of the first economic development plan.

The Algerian expert added that the different surveys presented to the president by the World Bank specialists last September revealed that the plan didn’t reflect the economic and social goals expected by the president, because local authorities were exaggerating their achievements in the different reports.

For his part, M Laameri added that the president was hundred per cent right when he slashed at the privatization process, when he insisted on forcing foreign companies to share their profits with Algeria as done in all countries and rely on the Algerian expertise in this field.
