In a press conference at the Nation Council on Monday, the Prime Minister said “I know what is happening”, in a clear hint that the project has taken a long time without reaching an end.

Algerian PM did not give any specific date for the amendment, saying only “every event will be on its right time”.

“What I can confirm is that the constitutional amendment still exists because I have not heard that the initiative owner (Bouteflika) had abandoned the project”, he said.

Concerning the way in which this amendment will be introduced, the leader of the RND party preferred to keep silence. “The amendment will be according to the constitutional articles and presidential prerogatives, no more,” he added.
