Algerian president Bouteflika inaugurates highest bridge in Africa

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s inspection visit to Bouira (120 km east of Algiers) Sunday took only 3 hours because he visited only for sites out of the scheduled ones while public greeting was not organised for security reasons.

• President’s visit did not leave a great impression among Bouira’s residents, who had been waiting for this visit for long time. The presidential cortege did not take streets of Bouira’s different municipalities where dozens of citizens lined the sidewalks. The cortege passed through the East-West motorway avoiding traffic within urban areas of the province.
• President Bouteflika started his visit within strict security measures preventing traffic across motorway main road.
• He also inaugurated the “Giant Bridge”, which is the highest one in Africa with 128 meters height and 70 percent of length.
