Algerian President Bouteflika:Terrorism gravely distorts Islamic values of peace and tolerance
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika

Taking the floor during the plenary session of the organization of the Islamic conference in Senegal ’s capital Dakar , Algerian president Abdellaziz Bouteflika said that the hideous scourge of terrorism is a negation of the lofty values of Islam which upholds peace, tolerance and brotherhood.

The head of state firmly hit out against the criminal misdeeds of transnational terrorism and stressed the imperious necessity of fostering a global world strategy to stamp out this scourge once and for all.

“The United Nations organization remains the most appropriate body for the working out of an all-out strategy against terror activities worldwideâ€Â, President Bouteflika pointed out.

He called in this connection on world nations to pool their efforts in an attempt to eradicate this nefarious phenomenon.

President Bouteflika, however, underlined that a clear-cut distinction should be made at the United Nations between terrorism as such and the oppressed peoples’ legitimate struggle against foreign occupation.
