Algerian president vows to leave to justice do its work in Sonatrach scandal

As a first reaction to the so called “Sonatrach 2” scandal, the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika has declared in a letter destined to the Algerian Workers’ Union chief as well as to the employees of the hydrocarbons company on the occasion of the anniversary of the nationalizations of the hydrocarbons, that “ These issues are condemnable and spark our outrage”.

The president went on saying” I will not keep indifferent to the latest media uproar over the management of Sonatrach”.

The country’s first magistrate has asserted his intent to defer the issue before the court and sue all the parties involved in the scandal” I’m convinced that the justice of our country will shed light on the inns and outs of the affair and sentence with the utmost severity those responsible in this scandal”.

The president’ declaration comes to deny all allegations that he will interfere to protect the wrongdoers regardless of their position in the country’s political sphere and reiterates his willingness to leave justice functions as free as possible.

He has also seized the occasion to praise the Algerian security forces for their high sense of professionalism during the terrorist attack that targeted the gas facility of Tinguentourine last January 16.

“ I can’t help praising the elements of the civil protection, security forces and the military troops alike that won our respect and that one of the international community” as they freed the remnant hostages and eliminated 29 terrorists.
