Algerian private pharmacists call for profit margin increase.
The private pharmacists’ union spokesperson, Messaoud Belaameri, yesterday announced the revision of the executive decree regarding the deal sealed between the pharmacists and the social insurance fund in the coming few days.

Discussions will evolve around the pharmacists’ profit margin that will, in no way, be under 20%, according to him.

On the sidelines of a seminar organized by the Ministry of labour and social inssurance on generic drugs, M Belaameri said the decree goes back the 90s and doesn’t tally the country’s economic reality.

He added that the union he represents had presented a series of suggestions to the ministry including the revision of the profit margin, to boost selling generic drugs in a bid to reduce pharmaceutical products importation and thus medical care cost in the country.
