Algerian Research Center designs solar rural houses built with mud and rocks
The President of the National Centre for Studies and Researches on construction, Mustafa Bouselli, reveals that experts and researchers at the Centre will end by the current month of September the development of a modern model of rural houses in cooperation with the European Union under the project providing for the use of solar energy in the construction sector “Mid- Ionicâ€.

Mostafa Bouselli stressed that the center which is belonging to the ministry of housing, wishes to invest his innovative project under the project of one million houses launched by the President Bouteflika, which includes the building of 450.000 rural houses, adding that this modern technology relies on the use of local materials available fraquently in the Algerian coutrysides, including mud and stones.

This project depends also on the technic of using thick walls to unable the rural homes resist the earthquakes.

The center’s director, Hamid Afra, explains that the designers worked to integrate new elements such as putting a modern system which works with the solar energy and hot water for domestic use and develop natural lighting and ventilation for the solar energy economy allowing 40% of energy used in the traditional housing models
