Algerian stock-breeders seek assistance to cushion losses
Stock-breeders are concerned about grazing surfaces.

A total of 900 thousand stock-breeders across the country called on the government to put the protected zones and the grazing surfaces, whose number reaches some 336 zones countrywide, at their disposal to face drought and grass shortage. The situation will lead to millions livestock losses.

  •  The Algerian farmers’ union general secretary Mohammed Alioui Sunday revealed that the first national meeting of the Algerian stock breeders set to take place next Wednesday will discuss the problems that this category of workers face .
  • M. Alioui went on saying that the meeting will be upgraded by the presence of the Algerian premier, Abdelaziz Belkhadem and will bring together several acts of the sector including the Algerian agriculture minister.
  • M. Alioui also revealed that a second meeting is slated within few weeks with the attendance of the cattle breeders from all the corners of the country in order to announce the creation of a federation and discuss its bylaws.
