Algerian team at the 21st Men's World Handball Championship- Croatia 2009

Friday in Split Spaladium Arena was opened the 21st World Handball Championship.The opening itself was spectacular. After interesting theatrical performances, clowns and dancers, break-dance and folk and dancing groups as well as songs from this Dalmatian climate, to the centre came out the President of CHF, Sandi Sola, the International Handball Federation Dr. Hassan Moustafa and the representative of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Minister Dragan Primorac.

• After the formal opening of the WC on the court came members of Mountain Rescue Service, there was also the legendary grub, and, after that, came out the teams of Croatia and Korea and the first match at the World Championship.

• Algerian national team deposed Morocco on third position in Africa. To reach Croatian World Championship they had to conquer the host in Angola, in the match for bronze medal, and they made it. It was the game more difficult, because African teams for Croatian championship gained only three places, since for championship in Germany had four places thanks to success of Tunisian team in 2005. After a break from the World Championship in Germany, Algerians returned on the world scene, but never attained the result worth of respect so far.
• Algerians played the qualification for the Olympics in Beijing, but they did not reach them, because they were defeated by Croatia, Russia, and Japan in tournaments in Zadar. In the game they are able to bring lot of passion, sometimes even too much considering that aggressiveness has consequences. The foundations they built at home. Unlike Tunisia and Egypt, Algerian team leads the domestic expert Akkeb, and supplement to domestic team, whose skeleton consists Labane, Boudrali, Cherbour brothers, are international players, which play in France.
