Algerian TV Director Genral talks unveils new plans
The Algerian Television Director General, Habib Chawki Hamroaui this morning took the floor before print media journalists in a press conference at the television premises.
- Before the kick off of the presser, M Chawki asked the audience to respect a minute of silence to the memory of the sports caster, Al Hachemi Hantaz who passed away yesterday in Oran.
- He started his address by giving a brief view about the last Ramadan’s program broadcast by the national TV saying that he was fully satisfied at the quality despite some technical and aesthetic insufficiencies.
- M Chawki also evoked Television’s future prospects announcing a new redeployment of the different channels with the creation of thematic ones and the specialization of others.
- In this respect, he unveiled the new strategy to be followed with the view to living up to the Algerian audience’s expectations amid fierce competition imposed by major TV channels worldwide.
- He also revealed the future events put on the agenda of the state owned company enterprise including an important roundtable slated for October,25th under the theme of: “ The role of the public service in the era of Digital Terrestrial Television ” (TNT). The event will bring together high profile media experts including the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Director General, Jean Reveillon and ASBU’s director general, Salah Eddine Maawi.
- Answering to a reporter’s question about the way in which the national TV intends to cover the upcoming presidential elections, M Chawki replied that all means will be deployed to assure the best coverage possible, adding that he personally hopes a day will come where two or more candidates debate live on a TV set, referring to the U.S elections shows.
