Algerian War Veterans Minister : no grants for martyrs’ sons

Algerian War Veterans Minister : no grants for martyrs’ sons
Secretary General of National Organization of Martyrs' Sons, Khaled Bounedjma

Algeria's minister of war veterans Mohamed Cherif Abbas denied grants allocation for martyrs’ sons. He explained that law requires converting grants of martyrs’ widows after death to their sons on condition that beneficiaries have no income.

  • The minister said articles relating to social category war veterans and sons of martyrs are due to be applied after preparation. Sons whose fathers and mothers died are included as well.
  • Concerning the issue of what is called “counterfeiters,” it has not been closed yet because it seemed that there are some beneficiaries who have acquired membership without having any right.
  • Mohamed Cherif’s visit to Biskra (south of Algeria) came at the same time of a two-day visit paid by the French Prime Minister François Fillon starting from Saturday. The minister said there is no connection between the French PM’s visit and his visit to Biskra. He was on an inspection visit regarding many projects including his launching of Si Haouass martyr’s museum in Mchouneche municipality as well as checking the province’s historical museum.
