Algerians are not concerned by 30 DZ tax, says Tunisia’s foreign minister
Tunisian foreign minister Khemis Djihnaoui said the 30 DZ tax imposed on vehicles which leave his country is not intended to Algerians.
Djihnaoui Sunday told a Tunisian newspaper that the procedure touches all the vehicles including those driven by Tunisians. It was established in the 2014 Financial Act.
“This law is general and not limited to one country,” he said.
He added that diplomatic canals between the two countries are working on the problem to solve it.
“Algerian brothers are welcomes in their country Tunisia. Relations between Tunisia and Algeria are excellent,” he said.
Asked whether the law could be revised, he said there is a need for a legal and not an administrative decision. “All the possible procedures will be taken so that Algerians could enter Tunisia easily.”
This comes as Algerians protested against the tax as they have to pay almost 2,100 DZ each time they leave Tunisia while no tax is imposed on Tunisian nationals.
