Algerians to receive 3G services through their mobile numbers

Authorities of Control at the services of Post and Telecommunications “ARPT” decide to retreat from its decision, which is not to recognize the current mobile numbers of Algerians, when launching the Third Generation services, which will launch its service officially on the 1st of December, across four typical Wilayas, which are, Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Ouargla.

Sources from the services of Control at the Post and telecommunications, said that the issue caused a split within the body, noting that a special committee was formed because of this split within the authority of the settings, as its task will be to make a comprehensive assessment of the issue from the technical aspects, and the availability of technological solutions to enable Algerians to access to third-generation services in the same current figures, as damage that could affect the national economy and the three mobile phone operators will be assessed, and Algerian subscribers whose number is estimated at about 37 million, if this decision will be applied.

New committee will launch its mission -according to sources who preferred anonymity due to technical, economic and financial operation, which will be submitted to the chairmanship of the Commission for consideration, adding that the issue of the adoption of these decisions is a process that remains the prerogative of the same Commission.

Economic experts and specialists in communications warned of the alarm about the power of settings’ step, which requires three to compel dealers of the mobile phone to provide third-generation services with new slides that carry completely different figures for the current numbers that thousand Algerians used for many years.
