Algerians travelling to USA call on President Bouteflika for help in visa extension
Algerian President Abdelaziz Belkhadem with his U.S. counterpart George Bush

Algerian community settled in the United States of America has started a campaign to collect signatures and send them to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika for visa deadline extension.

  • In a letter send by the Algerian community, an urgent intervention is needed in this issue. “North African and Arab nationals who want to travel to the U.S. benefit from 5-year-visas while visas for Algerians become valid after 3 months.”
  • President of the American Algerian Association Abdelghani Bessaha said the Algerian community asked President Boutaflika in 2001 to talk to U.S. President George Bush on visa extension.
  • “President Boutaflika met the Algerian community once again after his talks with President Bush. He informed us that he had submitted their demands to U.S. President and Algeria was waiting for an initiative from the American authorities.”
  • The president of the Algerian association called on President Bouteflika to make the initiative and contact U.S. authorities to move the issue.
