Services of the judicial police of the province of Algiers quashed on Monday an organized gang involved in the embezzlement of money from saving accounts belonging to several customers of the Algerian postal services.

The exposed culprits are employees of the postal services and have been indulging in such blameworthy practices since the year 2011.

Well – informed sources told Echorouk that the defendants had regularly stolen large sums of money from the customers’ current CCPaccounts and stealthily deposited them in their own accounts.

The same sources added that 8 illicit operations of the kind had resulted in the embezzlement of about 270 million centimes (DA) from various CCP accounts and the investigations are still underway to uncover other similar fraudulent practices.

Police sources told Echorouk that this gang of white-collar thieves made up of 3 people employed by the postal services, had now been arrested and would be brought before justice in the course of this week to answer for their misdeeds.
