Algeria's Ambassador To Brussels Responds to Belgium Secretary of State
Belgian authorities did not submit a request to their Algerian counterpart, to deport the Algerian national, Khaled Babouri, who is accused by Brussels of stabbing two cups in the city of Charles Le Roy, Algeria ambassador to Belgium, Ammar Blani, said.
“Cooperation between the two countries in the field of deporting Algerians who are living illegally is done in normal circumstances”.
Ammar Belani responded to the Belgian Secretary of State for immigration, Theo Franken, who he said that cooperation with Algeria in the issue of its illegal immigrants is difficult, as Belgium wants to throw responsibility on the Algerian immigrant, Khalid Babouri.
Algerian Ambassador was quoted by the Belgian press on Wednesday as saying; “Cooperation between Algeria and Belgium is practical and is one and organised. We do not need bilateral agreements”.
Blani provided statistics concerning the number of Algerians who were staying in the Belgian territory illegally, and who were deported last year, as their number reached 155 people proving the cooperation between the two countries, and about the accused in the case, the Belgian Secretary of State for Migration, said that the accused received two orders for deportation in 2012 and 2014, but it turns out that he is originated from a country that is difficult to cooperate with.
Belani responded: “Algeria received a request from the Belgian counterpart asking for the identification of the accused who carried out the attack or deportation to Algeria. How could this person got away from the window?”, in a reference to beaching the Belgian security measures, although he is followed in public right cases, as the Belgian federal prosecutors said.
“I condemn the criminal attack against the two female cops and presented condolences to the families of the victims and their relatives and colleagues”.
Belani’s clarifications came as an answer to the “sensational” statements that were made by the Belgian official, on Tuesday, including the fact that the Algerian authorities “always claim” that the citizens, who received an order to leave the Belgian territory because of the illegal residence or criminal acts, are Moroccans, and that “Algeria hesitates in receiving its own citizens”, noting that the Algerian authorities “always claims that these criminals are Moroccans”, and since these people do not have documentation, or claim it, the identification process will be difficult”.
For information, Khaled Babouri’s family from Annaba province (eastern Algeria), said their son has no relationship with terrorist organisations, asserting that he has a good behaviour, which was unanimously agreed upon by his friends in the city, and the investigation of the Belgian police confirmed that he has no relationship with a terrorist activity, while ISIS rushed to adopt the process.
