Algeria's football coach : “I don’t have a magic wand to guarantee qualifying ticket”
During a press conference held Saturday in Algiers as part of the Echibek forum, National football Coach Rabah Saâdane unveiled the line – up of the Algeria squad who are to represent the country during the 4 forthcoming qualifying matches for the combined Africa – World Cup 2010 football contest.
On the occasion, Rabah Saâdane replied to the journalists’ questions and queries saying that Algerian football is seriously going downhill owing to several untoward factors.
The ailing Algerian football should be salvaged before it is too late, he underlined.
Saâdane hailed to this effect the recent decision by the youth and sports minister to organize a consultative conference bringing together all the football actors and proponents in an effort to hammer out adequate and speedy solutions to the deep – rooted dejection now besetting the football arena in Algeria.
The national coach further spoke of the difficulties expected to be faced by the Algerian national football team in its 4 scheduled qualifiers, starting from early next June, versus 4 indomitable African national line – ups.
Saâdane said that all these African opponents would be very difficult to deal with on the pitch but the selected Algerian players, he said, have the adamant will to forge ahead and to try and wrench the qualifying ticket for the second round of the competition.
He pointed out that one should not focus only on strong contender Senegal but Liberia and Gambia the other 2 teams in Algeria’s group, should also be taken very seriously given their talented and seasoned line-ups.
