Algeria's National Liberation Front purges ranks ahead of constitution revision
The decision taken to evict 11 commissioners from the National Liberation Front (FLN) party has sparked controversy inside the general secretary especially that the reshuffle touched militants close to the former general secretary, Ali Benflis.According to well informed sources, the announcement has been called off by the present general secretary, Abdelaziz Belkhadem till next week following leaks in the names of the commission involved in this change, namely; Telemcen, Tebessa , Bejaia , Guelma, M’sila , Annaba , draria, dar Al Beidha, Khenchella, Souk ahrass and Cheraga.
This movement was due to, according to the same sources, to the setback recorded in the last local elections following a weak campaign led by these commissioners in the mentioned localities. But this argument was branded as being irrelevant since the old party has witnessed a downturn in most provinces of the country.
