Algeria's OAIC purchases 500,000 tonnes of durum wheat in August
Algeria’s state grains agency “OAIC” bought 500,000 tonnes of durum wheat in August, mostly from Canada, due to a weak domestic harvest, a senior OAIC official told the press in Algiers.
- “Canadians have opened their market to competition, which can push prices up,” Abdel Hakim Chergui, director of foreign trade at OAIC, was quoted by local media outlets as saying late on Tuesday.
- “OAIC anticipated the Canadian wheat crop that looks relatively good this year ,” the Algerian senior executive added.
