Algeria:Senior FLN Party militants excoriate Secretary General Amar Saadani

Senior FLN Party militants namely Abderrahmane Belayat and Abdelkrim Abada, have severely castigated the recent press statements made by current FLN Party Secretary General, Amar Saadani, concerning President Bouteflika’s new election bid for a fourth straight mandate and the military institution’s undeclared role in choosing beforehand the country’s Presidents of the Republic.

The two men stressed that Amar Saadani’s baffling statements represented only him and not the FLN party militants.

Mr Belayat said that it’s normal that President Bouteflika, who is the head of state and honorary President of the FLN Party,may harbor a renewed ambition to vie again for a new presidential term.

He however emphasized that such a decision should go through three essential prerequisites notably that the current head of state should first enjoy a good health as required by such a high post, that he declares publicly his will to stand again as a candidate for the 2014 election and eventually that such an election bid should secure the prior endorsement of the FLN party central committee members after a thorough debate.

Abderrahmane Belayat further highlighted  his adamant resolve not to forsake the legal proceedings brought against what he termed the “illegal” central committee meeting held earlier this year at the Aurassi conference hall  and which appointed, Amar Saadani, as the FLN party’s new Secretary General in defiance of internal norms and regulations, as he put it.

He also labeled as “dangerous” Amar Saadani’srecent statement to the effect that the Algerian military institution was behind the scenes behind the election of Presidents in Algeria, stressing that Saadani should be held accountable for his sweeping and flabbergasting declarations.

For his part, Mr Abdelkrim Abada, underscored that Amar Saadani, was patently following in the footsteps of  his predecessor, Abdellaziz Belkhadem, the ousted Secretary General, by putting the FLN militants before the accomplished fact through his mind-boggling decisions and declarations.
