Algiers court opens April 11 suicide bombs file

Criminal court in Algiers opens Wednesday one of the case files related to the black Wednesday’s explosions, which targeted the Government Palace and a police station in Bab Ezzouar (in the capital Algiers). The accused (K.R.Hamid) Khaled, one of the two suicide bombers’ recruiter who carried out a suicide attack on the morning of April 11 will be sentenced. He is prosecuted for belonging to an armed terrorist group active inside and outside Algeria.

The case events go back to July 2006 when the accused (K.Rachid) met his neighbour (CH.M) who suggested to him to join armed groups. In the beginning, he was not sure and he stated that he was ready to help them with all they need. After repeated meetings, he accepted the idea to work as a connecting member for the armed group.

In October 2006, he moved to Boumerdes to meet the terrorist (CH.M) to receive money to by some weapons and then take them to the strongholds. The operation wasrepeated again after Khaled had moved to Azazga in Tizi ouzou province (100km east of Algiers) to meet the terrorist Alkama alias Abou Amar who asked him to bring some weapons and recruit someone owning a car to facilitate their move from and towards the groups’ strongholds in Tizi ouzou and Boumerdes Mountains. In November, the terrorist Abd el Ghani gave him a box containing some weapons to tell Alkama that he will bring weapons to him to Tiziouzou, and then he told him that he was able to recruit someone to move with him.

Dealings repeated many times, then he changed his mission to recruit young people to work with terrorist groups and he met KH.A from Maghnia (west of Algeria). He told him that he had a friend from Timouchent who was convinced by the idea of “Jihad”, and “K.Rachid” asked him to prepare himself until he contacted the group.

That was the way in which they were recruited in Algiers and Boumerdes. He continued his work in weapons preparation field and bringing them for terrorists until 11 April 2007 when the terrorist CH.M called him and told him that he was one of those recruited by him to accomplish the black Wednesday’s suicide attack. He threw away his mobile to not be arrested and hided weapons with B.A. After a while, he was arrested by security officers because he was suspected with being involved in the black Wednesday’s attacks.
